“Break the girls, because if you break the girls, you break the men.”
That is the message the Sudanese government sent its officers. The troubled government has a problem they never thought possible. The women outnumber the men and they are demanding change. They are standing up for their rights.
At first, they were only arrested for standing up for basic human rights. They did not stop. They were photographed and sexually humiliated. They did not stop.
They were beaten by fathers, divorced by husbands in an attempt to get them to conform. They did not stop.
With the chaotic state of our own government, it is important to remember that we have a voice. Men & women alike we have a voice. And it is only with that voice that we will begin to make positive changes like the Sudanese women who continue to struggle daily.
